Birmingham, Alabama Dr. James Krell is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985 and from Harvard Medical School in 1989. He completed an internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in 1990, and completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1993, where he was chief resident. He now is in private practice with Dr. Gary Monheit in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Krell has several publications and frequently teaches at University of Alabama, Birmingham, in the Department of Dermatology. His dermatology interests are varied and include medical dermatology with a special interest in psoriasis and phototherapy. In addition, he performs skin cancer surgery and many cosmetic procedures including collagen therapy, leg vein injections, chemical peeling, laser surgery, and procedures to correct acne scarring.
