New Orleans, Louisiana Mary P. Lupo, M.D, graduated summa cum laude with honors in Biology, Phi Beta Kappa, first in the 1976 graduating class of Newcomb College of Tulane University. After graduating in 1980 from Tulane Medical School, she finished one year of internal medicine at Ochsner Foundation, then completed in 1984 her residency in Dermatology at Tulane. During her final year she served as chief resident and won the Peterkin Award for outstanding research in Dermatology for her study of postaglandins in atopic dermatitis.
She began in private practice in 1984 and became Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and clinical faculty member at Tulane that same year.
Dr. Lupo has always had a great clinical interest in cosmetic dermatology and sclerotherapy and has lectured and published extensively on these subjects. She continues to instruct residents in Laser and light therapies, collagen, Restylane, Hylaform, Captique, Botox, chemical peeling, and sclerotherapy. She has served on the editorial board of Cosmetic Dermatology, Journal of Aesthetic Science, Journal of European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and Current International.
She has served on the Health Liaison Committee for the American Academy of Dermatology and was appointed chairperson of the Public Information Committee of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. She is a member of the Leaders Society of the Dermatology Foundation. She has received the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Continuing Medical Education Award yearly since 1984.
In 1995, after years of research, Dr. Lupo developed her own line of skin care products which she sells under her name in her office, over the internet (www.drmarylupo.com) and in selected spas. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Dermatological Society and a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Tulane Medical School.
Dr. Lupo is firm in her commitment to public education on skin diseases in her community and donates her time for health screening, educational programs and seminars for the public.
