Dr. Jay S. Adams graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Psychology. He then went to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to earn his M.D. degree in 1977. Dr. Adams next received his Residency training in Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Washington in 1982. He then completed a flexible, rotating Internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, and became a staff Pathologist at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio as a Major, United States Air Force Medical Corps. Dr. Adams next went to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was Chief, Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. From 1990 – 1993, he finished his Dermatology residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, and also was Dermatopathologist and Staff Dermatologist.
Dr. Adams continued his professional career with Dermatology Associates of Kentucky, as well as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine/Dermatology at University of Kentucky in Lexington. From 1995 – 1996, he was Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Dermatology, at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, and then from 1996 – 1998, senior Staff Physician/Teaching Staff, Department of Dermatology, Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Adams is currently with Carson Dermatology in Carson City, Nevada.
Dr. Adams belongs to several professional organizations including: Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology, Associate of the American Society of Mohs Surgery, and Member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Adams is Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, the American Board of Dermatopathology, and the American Board of Pathology (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology), and is also a member of the Nevada State Medical Society and the Carson Douglas Medical Association.
