Annandale, New Jersey Carter G. Abel, M.D. graduated cum laude from Princeton University. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Abel completed his dermatology residency at the University of Alabama Hospitals in Birmingham, Alabama, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in Mohs’ micrographic surgery and cutaneous laser surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. His is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American College of Mohs’ Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology.
Dr. Abel is an Assistant Attending in Clinical Dermatology at the Columbia University College of Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Since 1998, Dr Abel has served as an Assistant Editor of Cutis magazine, the largest circulating dermatologic journal in the world.
Dr. Abel specializes in skin cancer surgery and procedural dermatology related to the aging process. He received his dermatologic training in the sunbelt where he treated patients for many of the severe effects of sun damage. As a trained Mohs’s surgeon, he performs an advanced method of skin cancer removal that is tissue-sparing. He also practices general dermatology. Dr. Abel is a third generation dermatologist who grew up in Elizabeth, N.J.
