Dr. Joseph M. Masessa attended medical school at University of Medicine and Dentistry at New Jersey Medical School in Newark where he received honors in Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Pediatrics and Dermatology, and the Jacob Bleiberg Award for outstanding senior Dermatology student in 1987. He then served his rotating internship at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey until 1988, and his Dermatology fellowship at the Clinical/Research Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for T-cell receptor gene rearrangement analysis utilizing the Southern blot method in mycosis fungoides and kaposi’s sarcoma until 1989. Next came his Dermatology residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois until 1992. Since 1992, Dr. Masessa has been in private practice in both Newfoundland and Rockaway, New Jersey where he specializes in Dermatologic surgery, skin cancer and laser surgery, and Mohs micrographic surgery. He enjoys boating, skiing and flying in his leisure time.
Dr. Masessa is Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and a Member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, Medical Society of New Jersey, American Society of Mohs Surgeons, and Dermatological Society of New Jersey.
