Dr. David G. Brodland, a native of Canton, South Dakota, received his medical training at Southern Illinois University of Medicine graduating with honors. After completing an internship in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, he commenced training in the Department of Dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in 1986. He was the recipient of the Paul A.O’Leary award for Clinical Excellence as a senior resident in 1989. In 1990, he completed his fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery under the direction of Dr. John Zitelli in Pittsburgh. Dr. Brodland then served on faculty at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he was Associate Professor of Dermatology at Mayo Medical School, Co-Director of the Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship program and of the Mayo Cutaneous Laser Center for seven years. He was also Chair of the Education Committee and directed the Dermatology residency program. In 1997, Dr. Brodland joined his former mentor, Dr. Zitelli, in practice and currently resides in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Brodland has authored over 40 articles and chapters. He has performed over 10,000 Mohs micrographic surgery cases as well as 4,000 laser and cosmetic procedures. He has been active in leadership positions in most of the local, state and national Dermatology organizations. Dr. Brodland has received many honors including the Skin Cancer Foundation Fellowship Award, appointment as Mayo Foundation Scholar and the Teacher of the Year Award at the Mayo Clinic.
