Doylestown, Pennsylvania Following graduation from Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Willard completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. He then served a tour as a general medical officer in Korea before returning to Walter Reed and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda to complete his dermatology residency. He fulfilled his military service obligation as a Major in the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, KY. Dr. Willard entered private practice for a year before attaining a fellowship at Brown Medical School in Mohs and reconstructive surgery. After 9 years away from the Philadelphia area, he and his Buckingham-native wife were happy to return home to establish Dermatology and Mohs Surgery Center.
Although his practice offers general dermatology, Dr. Willard’s expertise and sub-specialty training are as a Mohs surgeon, and in this role he serves 3 functions: (1) oncologic surgeon, in using a narrow, “tissue-sparing” margin to remove aggressive skin cancers or skin cancers in critical anatomic areas; (2) pathologist, in viewing the microscopic tissue samples to determine whether the specimen is cancer-free; and (3) reconstructive surgeon, in repairing the defect resulting from skin cancer removal.
