Dr. Larry L. Smith, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge obtaining his B.S. degree in 1976. He received his M.D. degree from L.S.U. Medical School in Shreveport in 1981.
After completing an internship in Internal Medicine, he was accepted for a three year specialty residency in Dermatology at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. During his third year of residency, he was awarded a fellowship for the study of Melanoma by the American Cancer Society. For the research findings which resulted, he was awarded the Outstanding Resident Research Award for 1985.
Memberships: Active Medical Staff-Good Shepherd Medical Center, Longview Regional Hospital. Consulting Staff-Henderson Memorial Hospital. Clinical Associate-Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Smith is also an active member of: Gregg County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, Louisiana Dermatology Society, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Medical Association, and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Society of MOHs Surgery in which he serves on the Quality Assurance and Proficiency Committee. In addition, he is author of several research papers and the co-author of a textbook chapter on melanoma.
