Doctor Nickolai Talanin joined Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia in 2002. He was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (former USSR), where in 1985 he graduated ‘With Honours” from Tashkent State Medical Institute. He finished his Dermatology training there in 1987 and continued his graduate training, working on his PhD in Dermatology and Immunology. He received his PhD degree in 1990 from Military Medical Academy in St Petersburg, Russia. For the next few years he was working as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at his Alma Mater. In 1992 he moved to the United States, where he was appointed a Research Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Ohio, in Toledo, Ohio. For the next 4 years he was actively engaged into numerous research projects under the guidance of Drs. Walter and Dorinda Shelley. More than 15 papers came as a result of this work including those in fields of Psoriasis, Skin allergies, Infectious skin diseases, Botox use, and others.

Upon completing his USMLE examinations Dr. Talanin received his US Dermatology training at the Medical College of Ohio and the University of Tennessee, Memphis. In 2000-2002 he was a Clinical Fellow at the National Cancer Institute of the NIH, where he was working on medications affecting Kaposi Sarcoma Associated Virus.

Dr. Talanin authored more than 40 scientific publications in the major Medical and Dermatology Journals. He gave presentations at the National and International Dermatology Conferences.
