Olympia, Washington Dr. Brazil’s expertise includes the medical diagnosis and treatment of various skin, hair, and nail disorders. He offers specialized surgical skills for the removal of cancerous and non-cancerous growths, striving for the optimal cosmetic repair. Dr. Brazil’s clinical practice also involves the care and management of pediatric dermatologic problems.
In addition, Dr. Brazil specializes in cosmetic dermatology. He offers advanced therapy for sun damaged and aging skin, including the use of fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse and Sculptra, Botox Injections and Chemical Peels. Dr. Brazil has extensive dermatologic laser experience with multiple laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems for the treatment of facial wrinkles, acne scarring, traumatic scars, vascular lesions, tattoos, pigmented lesions, port wine stains and hemangiomas. He has trained with Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick in California for CO2 laser resurfacing techniques and has certification from Harvard School of Medicine for dermatologic laser use. He is also one of the first Northwest physicians to become Fotofacialâ?¢ credentialed from Dr. Bitters, Jr. for the use of the IPL for treatment of facial vessels, redness, rosacea, and sundamaged/wrinkled skin. His training and expertise also includes upper eyelid blephoraplasty and liposuction of the neck and jowl areas. Dr. Brazil and his Clinic were the first in the Northwest to offer Fraxel laser resurfacing.
Dr. Brazil has received extensive training in the medical and surgical management of abnormal leg veins. He emphasizes an overall assessment of the underlying venous disorder, followed by a systematic treatment plan to achieve the best possible results. This plan may include compression sclerotherapy, ambulatory, phlebetomy, PhotoDerm Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and the new VascuLight system. Dr. Brazil is one of the first physicians in Washington to acquire a VascuLight system and undergo a preceptorship with Dr. Stanley Kovak (Chicago, Illinois), for treatment of leg veins. HE is involved in instructing and precepting physicians from the Western region on management and treatment of patients with the Epilight and PhotoDerm IPL systems and the VascuLight laser.
Dr. Brazil with the Olympic Dermatology and Laser Clinic nursing staff has been designated as the only Northwest “Centers of Excellence” in the year 2001 by ESC Medical/Sharplan Laser Company. As part of a national networking team, the Clinic is noted as a Center of teaching and research in IPL and Laser technology. Dr. Brazil has been an FDA investigator in several IPL studies to remove unwanted hair. In 2000, he presented his data at the annual meeting of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). In New Orleans, 2001 ASLMS, Dr. Brazil presented a research study conducted by himself and nursing staff on the effects of IPL photorejuvenation for reduction of facial lesions and wrinkles. Efforts are underway to submit this research article for publication.
